Abstract
According to national and worldwide rankings, quality in higher education (HE) is a significant concern. The new higher education system in India is outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which was approved by the Union cabinet on July 29, 2020. Many education experts did not anticipate the changes that NEP2020, which includes primary education through colleges in both rural and urban India, has suggested. By giving everyone access to high-quality education fit for the twenty-first century, NEP 2020 aims to create an India-centric educational system that directly contributes to the sustainable transformation of our country into a vibrant and egalitarian knowledge society. Even though school and college education have been equally impacted by the education policy, this article primarily focuses on NEP 2020 and its effects on higher education. The current study also highlights the key components of NEP, examines how they impact the current educational system, and primarily stresses improving the quality of the HE system at all levels.
